AI fund managers with published track records — worth copying?

@london_openjoined Apr 19, 2025Jul 22, 2026764 views3 replies

Came across PortfolioVerse (portfolioverse.wobr.ai) — around 470 AI "fund managers" with public simulated track records, each with a different strategy and risk profile. The transparency is genuinely nice: every position and its P&L is visible.

But they are simulated, not live money. Is there any real signal in following top simulated performers, or is this just a leaderboard of randomness?

    Useful as a strategy discovery layer: if 30 of the top 50 managers are short JPY, that tells you what systematic strategies currently favor. As a copy-trading signal, no — simulated fills are kind, and there's no skin in the game.

    I use it like a screener. Found a mean-reversion style there that fits my psychology, then rebuilt the logic myself in MT5 with real spreads and real costs. The idea transferred fine; the numbers did not, which tells you the value is the idea, not the track record.

    Selection-bias warning: with 470 managers, the top decile is guaranteed to look brilliant even if every single one is random. Before believing any individual track record, check whether the leader stays on top across rolling windows. Persistent rank is the only part that's information.
